GE Renewable Energy recently announced that it has selected Clinton, South Carolina for a new research and development facility. The $29 million facility will be used to test prototype bearing designs and evaluate next generation bearing technology for the GE’s Onshore Wind business. The new facility will be located at 19267 SC-72, Clinton, SC, and begin operation by the end of the year.

Samsung, one of the world’s leading technology companies, is opening a new home appliance manufacturing facility in Newberry County. The $380 million facility will produce some of Samsung’s most popular, industry-leading appliances and generate more than 950 new jobs over the next three years.

This phase, a $30 million investment, is expected to result in 45 new jobs in Newberry, SC. The first phase of Kiswire Inc. Steel Cord Division represented a $15 million investment and 30 new jobs, which came to fruition when production began at its new manufacturing site in December 2013.
