“We are thrilled that Ruiz Foods has located its newest and first East Coast manufacturing facility in Florence County. Ruiz Foods is making a $55 million investment to transform the former H.J. Heinz facility to meet production specifications. The SCEDIF program enabled us to effectively off-set cost of upgrading the facility and expedited the company’s expansion. Ruiz Foods is bringing better paying jobs and opportunities to our cooperative members and community neighbors. Being part of improving lives and supporting a company’s endeavor is what we cherish most.”

— Brian Kelley, Acting CEO, Pee Dee Electric Cooperative

“Florence County is fortunate to have two utility partners in our area — Pee Dee Electric and Santee Electric Cooperatives. By these cooperatives coming together and armed with the SCEDIF program, we effectively captured Ruiz Foods for Florence County. Ruiz Foods’ growth plan is phenomenal and their actions illustrate a commitment to being a true community partner. When the county, state, and utility work together — South Carolina wins.”

Florence County Economic Development Partnership
